Kyler sent me an email today while waiting in a bus terminal in Guayaquil. He was waiting for a bus to take them back to Loja. He said they were told yesterday afternoon that they would be headed to Guayaquil to get their Ecuador identification. They got on a bus at 11 o'clock last night and traveled all night and arrived in Guayaquil at 7 o'clock this morning (about and 8 hour drive..ugh)! They walked to the immigration office, got their ID and were waiting for the bus to take them back at 1 this afternoon! Talk about a long day!
He said he is very excited to get mail and hopes that we figured out the customs forms...I told him that if and when he gets a package we'll know LOL. I asked him if there was anything I could send and he said American candy is always good, he said the kids there absolutely love it! His companion gives out jelly beans and they love it.
He said he is working on taking pictures and will send some next week. He said everyone loves to see all the pictures he shows them from his home and that everyone loves to look at his picture book. He said they all think he is some rich and famous person because of all the fun things he gets to do and has. He said that the average income where he's at is about $350 a month. I'm sure it's very humbling to see how they live with so little.
He said they have 4 people with baptism dates coming up in the next 2 weeks and they are hoping they all follow through. He is super excited for his first baptism this Saturday!
He said he watched all 10 hours of conference and didn't understand hardly anything LOL. He said, "but that's what I get for coming to a Spanish speaking country!"
