Change 16 Week 1

I'm not really sure if I'm going to end up writing my last Monday here in Ecuador, but I don't really think it will be necessary. I plan on spending the day visiting my converts here in Guayaquil, which means that this will be the 2nd to last time that I read and write emails. This week will be the last time that you will all have to write me an email!! Anyway this week me and Elder Hicken have been working hard with a ton of people that we have found. We found this street where the branch counselor lives and we made a few contacts because he's the only member within like half a mile from there. One contact lead to another and to another and it turns out that pretty much everyone on that street knows each other and now we're teaching like 5 families on the same street. We're excited about all the people and their progress, but not one of these people are married, so that's going to make it hard. For them to get baptized they have to get married and that takes a while, and if they aren't excited about it or don't want to then it's almost impossible that they get baptized really soon. Basically these next 2 weeks I'm going to be getting them ready for baptism and maybe married whereas when I leave, they will be ready to get dunked! I'm pretty sure I'm done baptizing unless they change me tomorrow to another sector but I'm happy here and I'm hoping to have a great last 2 weeks!! I'm doing good and getting excited to see everyone when I get back!! I hope that things are looking good for my first weeks back home, I know it's going to be busy but I can't wait to get back and get things done! Have a great week and I look forward to hearing from you next week!! ELDER WILSON

Happy 21st Birthday Kyler!!!

Since we couldn't talk to Kyler on his birthday, I made this cute little poster and we emailed him a picture so he would get it on Monday!

Change 15 Week 6

Hey family! Well here in this sector we're doing alright, we've been working our tails off trying to find new people that want to progress and it has been hard. Here in this sector there's 4 huge churches that are like Christians and they have weird beliefs. Pretty much all the people that we talk to belong or belonged to this church and they don't really want much to do with us but we have been working hard. Our convert is progressing well, we have been working with her so that she stays active and now she's going to be called as a counselor in the primary. She likes working with little kids and is excited about her calling. She's only been a member for 8 days, but we're really proud of her and how far she has come. Me and Elder Hicken are getting along better, this should be the last week that we work together and we're not really sure who's going and who's staying but seeing as I'm going home soon, I'm guessing that I will stay. I'm hoping that we can start having a lot of success so that I can finish strong, because it seems like we have been working super hard and seeing little results. I know that that's how it is sometimes but I just hope that I can go out swinging. I wanna finish my mission baptizing because that's really the key to making time fly. I love it, and there's nothing that I want more right now than for time to fly be because of the work. Anyway I'm hoping that everything is working out for my homecoming, I haven't had time to read letters because we're in a hurry today, we're going to go buy keep sakes since it's one of my last Monday's in the mission. I won't be online again until next week. I love and miss you tons!! Thanks for all the b-day cards, I've never opened my email and had 25 in the inbox before! Have a great week!! ELDER WILSON

Change 15 Week 5

Hey family! Well this week was good, me and Elder Hicken have been working hard and we had a baptism this Saturday!!!! Her name is Romina Espinoza and she is 19, we have been working with her since I got here to this sector and we at first thought that it was a lost cause. With a little faith and a lot of lessons, she went to church and liked it and she was progressing well. We were really excited but she still wasn't all that excited about getting baptized even this last week but one of our zone leaders came and helped her out and it was awesome because from that moment she didn't doubt getting baptized or being a member of the church. We were really happy and it was nice for me to get a break from my sector, I don't really like being here but I have to do what I have to do. The ward where I'm working is pretty much the black sheep of the zone, it's the sector that always produces the least about of numbers, lessons, and it's because the members aren't great. Although we have to have a positive attitude because if we don't then no one would. Anyway we had a good baptism, Romina was really excited and she chose me to baptize her. I will attach a picture so you all can see. We're going to keep working with the people that we have mean while looking for news because our program is rapidly getting smaller. It's weird thinking that I'm going home in 4 weeks but I know that this week is really important because the people that I find this week should be getting baptized my last week and I want to go out with a bang so this week is crucial.

Have a great week and I love and miss you all tons!!!!

Change 15 Week 4

Wow how time has gone by! Well this week there's not really much to write about because nothing happened, we were working and working here with Elder Hicken. It's getting a little better working with him because at first it was difficult adapting and all that, but now we're getting used to one another and how we both like to work and all that. This week we're looking forward to having a baptism, we haven't seen her in like 3 days which isn't good because she also didn't go to church, but we're hoping that everything is well. This weekend was a holiday for Ecuador and everyone went on trips to other parts. It was horrible looking for people this weekend because they were all gone, we walked a lot but did alright. I'm doing good, just working and trying to get things done here in my last full month in the mission, which is a little scary to think about. Next month I've only got 2 weeks and I'm coming home. Not much to say this week, sorry for the boring letter. I got some money out last week and it will be the last time that I take money out til I come home, I have plenty and I am excited to get some last minute keep sakes. Have a great week and I love and miss you tons!!! ELDER WILSON

Change 15 Week 3

Hey! This week me and Elder Hicken really worked hard!! We were walking all day every day trying to find lots of new people to teach and help them progress. We accomplished the first part looking for new people, but they didn't really want to progress all that quickly and we were a little bummed because they pretty much didn't want to come to church. Although we have high hopes that they will open theie hearts a little this week and decide to come to church. We have had a ton of lessons and were happy about that, but we aren't just here to find new people. Anyway, me and Elder Hicken are doing good, he's really funny in his own way. It took me a little bit to get used to his form of doing things, but now we're good and working like slaves lol. We have one investigator that is excited about coming to church and we're really hoping that she's going to get baptized the 10th of November. That's pretty much our focus right now and this week we're hoping to continue having lots of lessons and people to teach. I'm trying my hardest not to remember when I'm coming home because I know that it's coming fast, but I want to keep focused while I'm still here. I will be taking money out today for the last time, to get some last minute keep sakes. If you want me to get anything specific let me know and next week I will go get it. I love and miss you tons!!! ELDER WILSON

Change 15 Week 2

Hey, well this week wasn't really what I thought it was going to be. Last Monday I got changed, and a lot was supposed to be happening, but then on Tuesday morning I got an emergency change and I didn't end up training. I'm now in a sector called Independence, working with Elder Hicken from Roosevelt, Utah. This week was a little rough because they didn't have much in the program when I got here, no one looking forward to getting baptized. We have been looking for a lot of new investigators, and we had a lot of long days last week. I can't say that I really want to be here, but there's nothing that I can do. I just have to work and with the little time that I've got left I know that I will be able to manage. I'm hoping that there's changes in 2 weeks so I don't have to finish my mission here, but I guess we will have to wait and find out. I'm in a branch again and the leaders aren't all that strong, the members aren't that great and the area is tough. The people here are different, they usually have lots of problems and don't want to change or get baptized. The people in this part are really strong in the Christian church, they yell and throw themselves on the floor and say it's the spirit. There's like 4 chapels from this church in this sector and it's been hard to find new people, and when we do get news they don't want to progress. This week we had 3 people go with us to church and we were happy because it was pretty much better than they had done in a while. They had just baptized 2 people when I got here so we are pretty much rebuilding the program and hoping to find some chosen people. I'm hoping that we can find some people soon that will be able to get baptized before I finish because it takes time to get converted when you've got a lot of problems. I hope that everything is good back home, I miss and love you all tons. Change 15 Week 1

Hey everyone, this week was really good with me and Elder Guzman! He's a really funny guy and we got along soo well and always had a good time. Also we had 2 baptisms this week!!!!! We were so excited because we had worked soo hard with this lady and her daughter so they could get baptized and even down to the last minute there were trials and problems but after all they got baptized and confirmed. It was amazing because I really came to develop some Christ like attributes, from Tanya and her daughter Tania I was able to learn a lot about being patient, loving the people and wanting to help them for the, and being humble and knowing that I'm not the one converting these people. It was a great accomplishment to have them both get baptized this weekend and I was soo excited to see them take this step in their lives. I will send pictures next week, this week I don't have much time to write because as you can probably imagine I GOT CHANGED AGAIN! lol and I really would have liked to have stayed in that ward but it is what it is. I loved the members, my converts and my companion but it was too good to be true. Anyway I am working in the same zone(stake) and not too far away actually but I'm opening another sector and my companion hasn't gotten here yet because he's coming from the MTC tomorrow. I'm training again, which means I have a lot of hard work ahead of me. I'm not really sure what to make out of this situation but I'm going to work and love what I'm doing for the little time that I've got left. I'm really grateful for the endless support that you always have given me. Thanks for everything, I miss and love you all very much!! Keep praying for me! ELDER WILSON

Dinner with the Sister Missionaries

Last night we had the Sister Missionaries over for dinner. What a fun experience! It was so fun to hear all about them and to show them pictures of Kyler on his mission etc.
Sister Everett is from Ft. Worth/Dallas, Texas and Sister Aruwititi is from Micronesia! I thought I would share a few fun facts we learned about them:)

Sister Everett has been on her mission for about 10 months now. She converted to the LDS religion about 2 years ago. She comes from a family of 6 with 3 sisters and she is a twin! Her mom served in the Air Force for 20 years and now works as a contractor and is currently in Afghanistan. She wasn't able to be there when Sister Everett opened her calling or when she left on her mission:( Sister Everett is one of the most personable people I have ever met. She was so sweet and so fun to talk to. Before coming to Enoch, they had been in St. George working in the visitor center. She said she loved it, but was glad to experience something new as well.

Sister Aruwititi has been on her mission for about 9 months now. She comes from a very small island where she says that if she stands in the middle of the island she can see both sides! LOL Before coming to the United States she had never seen a cow, sheep, or a horse! She also mentioned that she had been attacked by a dog since being on her mission so she was a little afraid of Axle, but of course Axle LOVED her and would not leave her alone! One fascinating thing we learned about her was that her dad teaches English and her mom is a translator and translates during conference weekends, but Sister Aruwititi didn't speak any English before coming on her mission! She said she was too stubborn to learn!

They shared with us a message about Joseph Smith by singing a song, which they did a fantastic job at I will add! Sister Aruwititi spoke to us in her native language which was very cool! She talked so fast!!
We sent them on their way with a big bucket of Halloween candy and brownies and ice cream for dessert that they were too full to eat!

We took a few pictures, but unfortunately they were all a little blurry:(

Sister Aruwititi is on the left and Sister Everett is on the right:)
